Winding front walkway was installed that connects to steps that lead down to a welcoming guest parking area• Extensive stone walls surround the front steps, providing a “journey of discovery” as guests come up to the front door

The exterior and most interior walls of the house are made of brick, creating anextremely solid structure

Front porch was completely renovated. Electric plugs were added for outdoor/Christmas lighting, etc• Ceiling fans were installed

the unique curving staircase (original to the home) has been painstakingly restored

Designer chandelier was selected to create a sparkling glow that welcomes visitors. The painted risers and treads were sanded and stained and decorative woodwork was installed to complete the restoration- Newel post and banister were cleaned and honed

The library wall was created from a small built-in bookshelf with cubby cabinets above• Custom wood work was created to mirror the original millwork around the doorways• Installation of a rolling library ladder to make access to books more feasible would be the finishing touch for the next owners

At night, chandelier light, candlelight, and the flickering firelight all reflect and bring the room alive for a magical evening experience

To brighten the room, designer reflective wallpaper was special-ordered from England- The high-end chandelier was chosen to coordinate with the garden wallpaper theme- The ceiling was painted a soft gray-blue to suggest the sky at dusk- The overall idea was to create a dining experience: Enjoying a meal in a moonlit garden

Mantel was custom crafted by carpenter on site

all windows and exterior doors have been replaced and upgraded to Anderson

wall of windows was installed, flanked by full-view doors- Brings light into the house 4 seasons- Doors provide access to a newly installed formal terrace area with fountain• Ceiling was raised and skylights were added to brighten and enlarge the airy-ness of the space

Counters are Brazilian marble. Hudson Valley light fixtures were selected to blend into the turn-of the century bistro feel of the kitchen

solid iron fire back above the range is a copy of a Pennsylvania original from the 1700s

Island counter top is custom-crafted zinc- Typical of the bars found in late 1890s Paris bistros- Note that zinc is a “living metal” and over time will develop a soft, blueish gray mottled patina (with use and cleaning with just dish soap and water)- Zinc is resilient, but will dent if something heavy is dropped

Designed in keeping with age/style of home to evoke an 1890s “Farmhouse Bistro” feel

La Cornue Fe range is dual fuel (gas cooktop, electric ovens). Hood over the range was custom crafted to mirror the arch and keystone design of the windows of the house

Butler’s Pantry• Re-imagined out of what was a 1970s home office bump out• Designed based on historic late 1800s butler’s pantry designs (ie, these were usually stained wood rather than the white typically used in kitchens)

Hall bath was entirely gutted, down to the studs to create a marble/travertine, spa-like space

All original doors have been retained and refurbished. Old, louvered folding closet doors in this bedroom were replaced with custom doors that mirror the style of the doors throughout the house.

Bookshelf was created from the old closet (could be returned to a closet simply by adding doors)• Custom woodwork was created to mirror the original millwork around the doorways

Oak flooring throughout the 2nd floor and much of the 1st is newly installed to match what remained of the original

The dark, cramped, outdated 1970s bath was entirely gutted, down to the studs to create a marble/travertine, spa-like space

The walled terrace off the sunroom was created in 2019- Can be accessed by two doors on either end of the windows- Has a very large fountain to provide a nice water feature that can be enjoyed even from inside the house when the windows are open; operates via a remote from the inside of the house

The 3 stone pillars now have full caps on top for holding planting urns, but also are wired in the event a new owner would want to install outdoor lighting here

The garage / carriage house was designed to be complementary to the main house and look like a fitting dependency that has always been here• Oversized bays have full pane doors and Anderson windows to keep them bright and airy

All concrete driveway was poured in fall 2016; drive up the hill from the barn area to be installed spring 2020

The bay closer to the house (the “Fun Bay”) was created for use as a gym, music or hobby room, or other family purpose, with ceiling fan, additional lighting, electric plugs, and is wired for a television (can, of course, still serve dual purpose as a garage bay

A very large full bath was installed in the new carriage house to provide easy access from the pool area or from the garden • Includes a shower, large sink area and concrete floor (no worries from dripping bathing suits)

Pergola is made of wind-rated vinyl and has a nearby plug for hanging cabana lighting, etc

Pool deck was refurbished to match the new pool liner

Screen surrounds the carriage house screened porch on 3 sides for pleasant airflow on warm summer days• Large, all brick fireplace was hand built to provide a cozy experience on cooler days (gas line was run for an easy fire start)

Lighting includes dimmable high-hats, sconces, and an outdoor rated chandelier

Extensive beds have been planted all around the pool area with a variety of different plantings to create a country cottage garden feel; all beds are irrigated

Wind-rated vinyl fencing was installed to provide privacy around most of the pool area while retaining the views across the beautiful rolling hills to the NE
